After much thought, a new, neutral nation has been planned for the modification. With this new nation comes 2 new characters (male and female varieties), a new map, and more backstory to the world of Evolution.

The new nation's name is Oceana, and here's the details.

Oceana is an ocean faring nation, based on islands and off-shore "settlements," ocean based cities from before World War III which were taken by rogues who have embraced the pirate heritage. Over the years, more and more cities were taken and put under the control of these so called pirates, and eventually became a haven for the less desirable citizens of the world. When the United Alliance and the Anarchist Revolution declared that wars would be faught in the arenas to determine the outcome of control for the "free" nations of the world, the Oceanic Pirates decided to become a thorn in the sides of both the Alliance and the Revolution. Unknown to everyone, however, their motives for joining in the battles in the arena were more than what it seemed at first, for while the EvEnt Pirates battled it out, the Norm pirates were busy taking advantage of the distraction, continuing their streak of robbery and other criminal activities, all under the noses of both sides.

Tech Level: (Medium Tech) The Oceanic pirates embrased the weaponry and technology that they have plundered over the years. They are fairly well equipped, but most of the technology that they have aquired has slowly run into disrepair. Without the knowledge to upkeep their older treasures, they are continuously raiding cities around the world to keep replenishing their supplies.

Belief System: Oceana, run by rogues and bandits, have embraced a code of ethics based around that of old-time pirates. They are fairly loyal to one another, and will watch out for one another, but will not hesitate to cheat over a "land lubber" if they haven't given their word of honor.

Military: Non-existant. The pirates are their own fighting force. Both men and women will help defend their fellow countrymen, and are raised from birth with such priniciples.

Characters: Men and women dressed in old-style pirate uniforms. These characters are selectable no matter which side you choose to fight on.

Fighting Grounds: A pair of volcanic islands has been sanctioned off for use in the EvEnt battles. Both islands are very close to one another with a large sand bar connecting the two. The volcanos are slightly active still, with hot lava on on the lower sections, but caves and caverns throughout the upper areas, and even some connecting the two islands underground. Sparse tropical trees and sand dot the outter edges of the islands, making for a rather open playing field. Off to the side of the islands is a lone pirate ship, watching over the battlefield.

It has been a very long time coming, and I'm sure our fans are going to be very eager to see some more progress on this ambitious multiplayer modification. We have rebuilt the team from nearly scratch, and things have been coming together quite nicely ever since the restart.

Our team has been working hard on some 3d models as well as our first, nearly finished map, the United Kingdom Castle map. We hope to have it done and fully playable soon, but in the meantime, we have prepared a few nice screenshots of the map. Also, we have a katana weapon in game right now, with more weapons planned to be added soon. You can check out all the new media in the gallery.

The exterior walls of the castle are still a work in progress, and we have a few bugs to work out on the area surrounding the keep and the inside of the keep itself. Also, we still have a few tweaks to do to the katana before it's done, and we're in progress of adding a spear and a few of the ranged weapons.

For the ability programming, things are going slow due to some unknown issues with the code. We could really use the help in the programming department. If you can help out with this area and can stick with this mod full time, contact me at lordneptune@gmail.com.

We are also on the lookout for talented people for texture design, character design and/or character modeling, level design, and, above all else, programming. Dedication is the most important component, talent second. Email me your application, preferably with examples, if you are interested.

For a while now, our gallery has been empty due to a bug(?) in the gallery backend software we use to run the gallery on this site. Now, I've upgraded the software to the latest version, so hopefully that'll help. And, I found all of our concepts on my PC, so I managed to upload them again. I left a few concepts out since we won't be using them in the mod, but just telling you this in case you're wondering where "such and such a picture" went.

So, without further ado, head on over to the gallery and check out our concepts, and post comments if you desire. We're fixing some bugs in our castle map right now, but once that is finished, expect some in game media soon.

Evolution is building great momentum and has released internal alpha 1.6.
We have the UK Castle map almost complete, just a few more bugs to smooth out. Over 15 custom models and over 20 new textures are made and being used in this map. Once fully complete expect a large media update. So stay tuned.

Well, it has been ages since and update, but we finally got the ball rolling again. With the help of a new co-leader, we've gotten a good push on the Evolution mod. Alpha versions of a few weapons, models and maps are being tested internally. The abilities code is taking a lot longer than expected, but we're starting to make some headway on that as well.

We will be creating more content within the coming weeks, and will try our best to keep you posted. Once some of the visual bugs are cleaned up, expect some new media releases. Until then, stay tuned.

While programming the abilities into this mod, I have noticed that one of the abilities has always bugged me and seemed to be unrealistic in the way it worked. So, I changed it. This ability is the Physical Endurance ability called Energized Body Shield. The new description is as follows:

Description: At Physical Endurance Level 7, the player gains the ability to have an energy shield supported around their body. This shield must be penetrated before the player will take any damage to their normal armor or their HP. This energy armor takes damage the same way normal body armor takes damage. This energy body shield takes no MC to start or stop or keep active. However, all damage done to the player at this point is first done to the player's MC while this is active. Once all the MC is depleted, the shield will automatically drop. The player may start and stop this ability at anytime otherwise.

Probably one of the coolest things I've seen as a resource for mod developers and others would have to be this new Wiki set up by the people over at Valve Software.

Go ahead and check it out. It's full of tons of useful information and definitely looks like it'll be a big help to everyone in the modding community, whether you are a veteran modder or not.

It's about time that the information for all the abilities this mod will offer is made available to the public in a format that should be easy to understand and easy to picture how the abilities are used in game. So, without further ado, here is the link to the page that lists every ability we currently have planned:

This is the most important portion of the modification. This is the meat and potatos of our idea. Without this portion, this modification would just be any other "new weapons, new maps, and new models" modification. So, please, let us know if you find anything that might be possibly unbalancing in concept, if there is anything you would like to add to the concept, or if you just want to tell us that X, Y and Z are really cool. Of course, after reading that, you will probably be wondering either "Hey, I can help out with some of that stuff! What can I do to sign up for the team?" or "Oh, man, I hope someone can fill in those gaps... I wish I could, but I don't have the skills..."
